My Report

For the last three weeks me and my writing class have been doing our information reports. If your wondering what is a information report is its were you write about something I did snakes and what you have to do is you have to hook the reader in and make the word make the readers mind blow so this is what I did. I hope you enjoy :)

Snakes

Hi there I’m Ryleigh and I’m gonna talk about snakes with ya. In Australia there are 25 types of snakes in total, and 21 snakes are the poison venom snakes. The most rare snake is the Aruba Island rattlesnake. Snakes are very dangerous and deadly Some can be long, some can be short. Anyhow, shall we find out about snakes? I would like to, let’s get crackin.

Where do snakes live?

Well snakes live in all of the continent of the world except Antarctica and New Zealand. Well there are some snakes in new zealand but there not from New Zealand they travel around to find the perfect spot. Some people collect snakes in small cages,
My opinion is that collecting the snakes isn’t good for them, they need to get out and live for themselves.
How do snakes kill their prey?

Snakes do not have the right kind of teeth to bite their prey but they can eat their prey whole they just gobble them up just like that. They can eat a prey bigger than their head because they have flexible jaws.

Did you know…

That snakes are very flexible. They actually have bones, I
know right, how is that possible? Snakes have bones that are called vertebrae. All animals with bones are called vertebrates. Snakes have 33 vertebrae and 24 ribs.

Possum problem

                           Possum facts

me and my group (Extreme galaxy) have been learning about possums and why they are pests in new Zealand so here are some facts about them. enjoy!

1 Possums are pests in New Zealand but there not in Australia because Australia has possum predators
2  Possums have night vision so they can see at night and it make it easier to hunt and kill for them.
3   Possums may look cute but they are really BIG pests.
4 Possums are big pests because they are killing the native bird and killing the trees we need trees to grow plants.

Exploring blogs

We are learning to create a positive digital footprint.
We often share personal information when we are online. The people we share with could be our friends and family or people we don't know. We need to make smart decisions about what personal information we share online.

Our trip to Spencer park

W.A.L.T Write an information report that informs the audience.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • I use an opening statement that explains the subject of the report.

  • The opening statement is followed by sentences that describe the event; what you saw, what you did, how you felt, what you learnt.
  • Each paragraph focuses on a different aspect of the topic; travelling, the beach, the lagoon walk, playground.
  • A general statement about the topic usually rounds off the report.

Our trip to Spencer Park On Friday we went to Spencer park. I was in the bus with Lyan and we played games. When we got there I saw my old school (South Hornby) the teachers gave us a number mine was 3D first we played in the playground. I saw all my friends Sandra, Mikayla, Ayla, Nikki and all my others. Then my group went on a quick walk to a lookout to see a beautiful sight of a lagoon.then we had a snack. After the snack we went to a bird look out we saw a big bird it had long legs to stand in the swamp and if it did not have long legs it would sink in the swamp. So we went on and then we went back to the playground and they called our names to get a bit of fruit. The fruit that I got was an apple after when we all finished our fruit. We got back on the bus and went back to school. I was so tired I fell asleep on the couch

The Present

WALT: Write a narrative

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • The title is suitable for the text.
  • The orientation tells who the story is about, and when and where the story happened.
  • The complication describes a problem and explains what happened next.
  • The resolution explains how the problem was solved.

In class we had to re-write a story about a boy opening a box that had a puppy with three legs in it. This is the original link: http://www.literacyshed.com/the-present.html

The present
One day I was on the Xbox and then my mum came with a box. I ignored her and kept playing.
Then she opened the curtains. Mum stopped. Just then the phone rang. Are you going to open it? "Oh", I replied. So I slowly opened it but before I even did a puppy jumped out. "Haha" I said but I saw he only had three legs. I was so mad I threw him away.

The puppy was acting very clumsy and found a bright red ball. I played with it. I looked at him for 4 seconds and played again so looked at him again. I saw him he looked really cute. So I turned off the Xbox and got my crutches and told mum that I will be outside. I got the red ball and the puppy followed me outside. I told mum I will be outside and so we played fetch all afternoon. I'm happy that I have someone like me because I was the only one who had a disabled leg, but now he's here with me.

Cyber Smart DLO

On Thursday 2nd March  my school went to the Hornby High to see a man called John Parsons. He told us that you must never tell your personal stuff, and don't talk to strangers, and do not leave your front door open. If you take a picture of your house and you car is in the picture scrub away the number plate and your house number or your house can get robbed.
